VACUUM BRAKE BLEEDER KIT - OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 11 1894 NZ. pub. 09/17 © Operation This device is equipped with an automatic shut-off unit, which prevents the fluid from entering into the compressed air flow. Empty the bleeder tank regularly to prevent the tank from being overfilled with the drawn off fluid. For all applications connect clean, regulated compressed air (between 4.1 bar (60 psi) and 10.3 bar (150 psi) to the male quick disconnect nipple attached to the swivel air inlet located at one end of the cover housing. Connect the appropriate end of the extractor tube to the fluid inlet cover located on top of the brake bleeder unit. Removing old brake fluid or removing old fluid from the clutch master cylinder Insert the other end of the extractor tube assembly into the master cylinder fluid reservoir. Press and immediately release the blue pushbutton to reset the float. Allow a few seconds for the vacuum to build. Remove all sludge/debris remainders. Once all brake fluid is removed, switch the brake bleeder off and refill new brake fluid. Vacuum-bleeding the brake lines and the wheel brake cylinders Slip the rubber fitting located on the other end of the brake bleeder hose over the nipple of the bleed screw. Open the air valve. Press and immediately release the blue pushbutton to reset the float. Allow a few seconds for the vacuum to build. Open the bleed screw. (Do not tear off the bleed screw!) Keep the bleed screw open until new fluid is visibly flowing through the bleeder hose. Close the bleed screw firmly before removing the rubber fitting or shutting off the brake bleeder. Vacuum-bleeding the clutch master cylinder, slave cylinders and hydraulic lines. Slip the rubber fitting located on the other end of the brake bleeder hose over the nipple of the bleed screw. Close the bleed screw firmly before removing the bleed screw adapter or shutting off the brake bleeder. Notes for all applications: Note for the master brake cylinder: An automatic master cylinder refill kit is included with the vacuum brake bleeder, which regulates the level of the new brake fluid. Follow the refill instructions to prevent air from being drawn into the master cylinder pistons, brake lines, and wheel cylinders. Observe the vehicle manufacturer’s guidelines. During the bleeding process, air is drawn into the lines. This is normal and does not indicate a malfunction. To prevent or reduce air from being drawn in, coat the bleed screw threads with silicon grease prior to the bleeding. The rubber fitting of the bleeder hose must remain connected to the bleeder screw. The vacuum must be maintained while closing the bleed screw. This prevents air from being drawn in before the bleed screw is tightened and sealed. When an automatic refill kit, as provided with this unit, is not supplied, check the brake-fluid level regularly. Troubleshooting Problem: After switching the air valve to the “open” position and resetting the float with the blue pushbutton, the vacuum brake bleeder does not work. Corrective Action: Remove the brake bleeder lid. Activate the flow by pushing it up into the housing. Press and immediately release the blue pushbutton to reset the float. Proceed once a “click” is heard. If the problem still persists, check the air source. Problem: When the fluid inside the bleeder tank reaches the “full” position, the vacuum brake bleeder will not automatically shut off. Corrective Action: Shut the air valve and stop the process. Dispose of fluid according to country-specific regulations.Activate the flow by removing the brake bleeder lid and pushing it up into the housing. Press and immediately release the blue pushbutton to reset the float. Proceed once a “click” is heard. Problem: When the vacuum brake bleeder is activated, fluid is not drawn off. Corrective Action: Check the compressed-air source. Check if the hose is properly connected, not damaged or blocked/obstructed through debris. Replace damaged hoses. If the hose is clogged, remove the blockage. Check if the refill bottle is empty and refill as required. Check if the brake bleeder tank is full. Dispose of fluid according to country-specific regulations.
